Travellers came to the CASO Railway Station waiting room before leaving on their travels. This year at FreshFest,  the waiting room will be the departure point for some interesting culinary discussion. 

Ruth Klahsen launched the Monforte Dairy in the spring of 2004 with an eye to growing slowly, collaborating with farmers to build a sustainable sheep dairy industry, and developing a deep knowledge of the art and craft of cheesemaking. She won the 2008 Women in Agriculture Award in recognition of her innovative role as a cheesemaker and entreprenur. Many devotees to the Monforte philosophy and cheeses have shown their support by buying cheese shares, as with shares in a CSA (community supported agriculture).

Monforte is a family affair. Ruth's son Daniel Szoller will be coming to FreshFest, along with Rebecca who is on the Monforte staff,  to share their superb cheeses and some tips on beer and cheese pairing.

Sandy of Plates & Platters Catering and Jamie Quai of Quai du Vin Estate Winery have collaborated for the Wine Makers Dinners at the winery for the past few years, providing a delicious multi-course meal, and lively conversation on wine-food pairings. They will present a workshop at FreshFest featuring Polenta Lasagna with Seasonal Grilled Vegetables, and some food and wine tips.
